We left Sandra's house later than we wanted to (what else is new).  Which meant we were in a bit of a hurry.  That didn't stop us from a side trip down the Thousand Islands Parkway which was quite interesting.  We then stopped south of Montreal.  The next morning we headed for the Eastern Townships and the Route des Vin.  This started off a bit slow but quickly took us into some beautiful countryside with the full red orange and yellow of Quebec Autumn.  We wound our way through many little towns, stopping for lunch at a little gem of a town Frelighsburg right on the Vermont border. We found some great little photo ops through Sutton and eventually stopped at a small camp sight on lake Brome.
We left early and planned to visit some more towns like North Hatley and pick up the Route Des Summit, which crosses some of the mtn terrain as it winds through small towns and along lakes nearly touching New Hampshire and then Maine.  We found ourselves in Lac Magentic and it was very sad to see the path where the train made its way down the hill and a lot of empty land in what would have been the town centre.  Only now a few housing developments are popping up.
We cut the Route Des Summit short at a town called Saint Romain, where I managed to find a desolate road with some abandoned sugar shacks online.  So we headed for Range Road 4 before the light was gone.  We stopped along the road and I was off down a small trail photographing an old building and Sharon stayed along the road close to the rig, capturing the trees along the small isolated road.  I heard some commotion and started walking and then running back, when I saw a white truck parked alongside our truck.  I arrived at the scene just as the truck was leaving and a super creepy guy was giving me an evil stare.  Sharon had started driving away in our truck and I and had to run after her to get her to stop.  I asked what happened and she said the guy was trying to get in the truck and she was yelling at him in broken French.  luckily another car had come up behind him and was upset at him for blocking the road.  This prompted him to leave I guess.
Needless to say Sharon was very freaked out by this whole thing and put her on edge.  We headed for Quebec City, over an hour away.  I noticed water leaking and this time our drain for the water tank was sheared off....doh!!!  Not the same as the low point valve, which is now protected.  This is a small knob to drain the water tank.  Fortunately this is a slow process and when we got to Quebec I Marvin MacGyvered her shut, all while getting soaked in a major rain storm.  Luckily we found a crepe place just before closing and we had yummy crepes, which made Sharon Happy again for her Birthday dinner.
We couldn't find any campgrounds that were open, looks like everything is now closed in Quebec.  We headed for Rivière du Loup since we saw that walmart camping is allowed.  We pulled in to the parking lot to find another Airstream and he's from Washington State!!! A fellow westcoast Airstreamer!!!  Sharon was really happy about this.
We are now 100km from New Brunswick.  Finally we will be in the Maritimes tomorow.
No photos because IPhone blogging doesn't work very well more to come later
