Tied to the Crackberry 24/7, back to back circle chasing meetings during working hours, leaving after working hours as the time slots to get the day to day work accomplished, lived to work...to buy more stuff to live, and so the cycle went...
Started to slowly see the light of the materialistic society I was a part of, one foot in, one foot out of the Corporate world...idea of simplicity was so out of the realm of the possibility for me, however did admire those that marched to the beat of their own drum and took the minimalistic approach
6 MONTHS AGO
A solid "no thanks" to working for someone else, taking the Leap of Faith fully into "The Artist's Way" (and in the process consolidating 10 closets of designer grubs and shoes down to 3 closets)
If you told me I would be taking my creative passion on tour in a 120 foot tin can across North America, doing a trail run of #Project333, I would have laughed at you and said you were "smoking the drapes"...
2.5 MONTHS AGO
With less than 33 items of clothing in tow, and just the bare necessities to live a comfortable and simple life on the road, set out on the creative journey of a lifetime...
TODAY
After just over two months on the road, less than 60% of the 29 items of clothing brought have been leveraged, pursuing creativity (on our own terms) has each day feeling like a holiday. Travelling daily to a new destination, we are spending less money than we did staying still doing the Corporate gig day jobs. We have never felt better; body, heart, soul and mind...
TOMORROW
99.9 percent certain about packing in our big materialistic life in Vancouver and setting sail for the simplicity of Island life (once we are done leg one of this North American Tour we will take a small break to get the ball rolling). We are leaving ourselves open to the realm of possibility, in doing so, some top notch leads (we would have never expected a few months ago) have come our way. Life is amazing, stepping outside of our comfort zone, taking that leap of faith to follow our creative passion has enabled us to see that a life of simplicity isn't about removing the things we love, it's more about removing the things that distracted us from the things we love.
When asked what kick started this all, the first step was not settling for opportunities that did not set our heart on fire (walking away from what others thought we were crazy to walk away from), deep diving into The Artist's Way (google it, recommend this amazing interactive book to anyone that wants to get back to their creative roots) and coming to the realization that if we waited till we were ready we would be waiting for the rest of our lives...
Three cheers to taking action and stepping into the realm of possibility!!!!
Peace Out
