Welcome to America

Welcome to America, this phase of the trip has been a lot different than our Canada trip.  Starting with the probing at the border (will have to tell the whole story over a drink).  Then we drove through to Portland Maine, arriving post huge storm that knocked out power to 500,000 people, luckily we weathered this storm on PEI where the winds weren't so strong, or at least didn't do as much damage.   We tried to get to the Portland Head Lighthouse, but we arrived about 10 mins too late...We then had to turn the trailer around because the road was closed.  Sharon got out to direct me, and got yelled at and told to go back to Canada, we weren't welcome...wow let's make America Great Again!!!  Then we found out what Interstate Tolls and Traffic are all about, we are still considering a quick exit back to Canada...I know Sharon would be into it.

There were no campgrounds open in New Brunswick or Maine so we had to boondock in Walmart our last night before crossing over, then Cracker Barrel in Portland Maine.  This killed our batteries, leaving us with power issues.  The bucket trucks couldn't fix our problem.  We covered ourselves in extra blankets and made the best of the Cracker Barrel parking lot.  We woke up to a dozen bucket trucks all surrounding us.  There were dozens more in the mall and other parking lots all around Portland, they were from Canada, New York, Indiana...All in Maine to help get the power back on as quick as possible.

We then headed for the Boston / Cape Cod KOA where we could plugin to everything we needed, including cable TV.  First time all trip we had TV.  Turns out flipping channels is boring!!!

The next day was gorgeous, so we headed to Cape Cod and explored the beaches and all the way to Provincetown.  Then the next day off to Boston to walk the freedom trail and find all the cool little sights Boston has to offer.  MIT and Harvard were cool!

Now we are hitting Newport Rhode Island and New York City...We found a campground close to N
YC...$95 bucks a night!!!  But we are going to suck it up for one night.

Photos have been tough here as well, we haven't been able to get out and find all the cool stuff,  e.g. Lighthouse Parks that close before sunset, etc.  In Canada you could show up at 4am and no one would care.
